I seem to remember hearing this term somewhere, and today I saw one! it looks like part of the beard is shaved off or very sparse. It's in a noid.

Can't help you, but my Red Skies grew without it's beards this year, just little nubs where the beard is suppose to be. Should be a pic of it in the Super Freak thread.
