Is this vine is worth keeping? Thick stems, vigorous growth. No clue what it is.

It looks like it could be Milkweed Vine, Funastrum cynancoides. Break off a leaf and see if it bleeds a milky white sap, Smiling

I don't have a guess for the plant BUT I'm guessing that Frostweed (Josephine) is talking about this plant: (Although, that link doesn't look right to me either.)

I have both Funastrum cynancoides and Cynanchum leave, the leaves are very similar but the flowers are very different.
So without seeing the flowers it is hard to tell, it may very well be Cynanchum leave, we shall see when it flowers. Smiling

It seems there's two plants with similar flowers but very different leaves which are carrying the same name!

https://www.google.co.uk/searc...

Funastrum cynanchoides on the Plant List is unresolved.

http://www.theplantlist.org/tp...

It is given as a synonym of Sarcostemma cynanchoides on Southwest Desert Flora.

http://southwestdesertflora.co...

Sarcostemma cynanchoides accepted on PL ..

http://www.theplantlist.org/tp...

Calphotos has it as Sarcostemma cynanchoides ..

http://calphotos.berkeley.edu/...

Also swbiodiversity ..

http://swbiodiversity.org/sein...

On The CoL it's another of these which has it the opposite way around. Rolling my eyes.

http://www.catalogueoflife.org...

http://www.catalogueoflife.org...

The CoL source is World Plants, I clicked to the site but the site gives a few specific links..

Organization: Individual custodian in cooperation with the Botanical Garden of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Karlsruhe, Germany

http://www.catalogueoflife.org...

http://worldplants.webarchiv.k...

It seems the CoL is mainly concerned with, so far that I have found, institutions based in Austria and Germany and that is evident even on the worldplants Links ..

CoL reference:

Another case where changes have been made yet the CoL hasn't updated. First in time takes priority, too many US sites have updated the name to be ignored. I could try to find more information on the 'renaming' of this plant in 1914 but as this site uses the CoL regardless of the evidence it's not worth my time.

Well, I am lost. Some of the pictures look like my plant with the same type of flowers and color, and some have purplish flowers. I do know that the flower color can vary on this plant. But the plant with the thin leaves doesn't look like it at all.
What can i say, all i know is what I have. Smiling

A daunting amount of info here. I'm convinced my plant is sand vine, Cynanchum laeve. I remember last year thinking its fragrance was kinda nice, and it thrived on neglect. Ultimately, it's a weed. Next day with cool temps, I'm whipping out my hori.
Thanks all.

Lisa, your plant is a host for the Milkweed butterflies, especially Monarchs.
If you don't have much milkweed around, you might want to save it for them, and help them in their efforts to increase their numbers. Smiling
