Do iris release anything into soil that would prevent me from growing edibles there? I have some seeds I'd like to plant after I move the iris out.

Thoughts?

You should be just fine. People eat orris root (iris rhizome!).

so long as you did not treat the plants, soil, with pesticide or herbicide products that are for ornamental use only, you can grow whatever you want in that same spot now.
