Let's see your propagated Begonias, or Begs you want to propagate.

This cutting was put in the ground about 2 months ago. Now it's blooming and there's a new stem coming up from the roots (or on the stem below the soil.)
Thumb of 2016-06-01/purpleinopp/596525

These were propagated last summer, potted together for winter, and put back in ground about 2 mos ago. (And some cuttings have been taken since then.)

I have pretty good luck with my cane begonias, too. I have the mother plant and one of her babies just about the same size. I have given away pots and pots full. I just can't seem to just toss away the cuttings! Someone on ATP here, sorry I can't remember her name, gave me a beauty of a cutting. I call it Peter Maravel after her uncle who gave it to her in the 70's. It is doing marvelously and needs pruning already. Obviously these plants just keep on giving .

I just looked through my Treemail. I got the beautiful cane begonia from @LinneaJ way up there in Maine. Thank You! You can see it is doing well . You can't see the blooms. I turned the plant to even it out and the flowers on on the other side. They are a very stunning dark pink.

Lovey dubby Lovely Begonias!

I sure wish I knew the secret to keeping Begonia's happy anymore! I had great luck with growing them years ago but for the past 5 or 6 years they do okay for a short while and then just seem to up and die.

TY! IDK why Begonias wouldn't be happy there. A decent number of them are probably hardy where you are, but so are all kinds of interesting plants with all kinds of beautiful, wild leaves. The ones I have aren't that interesting, as far as Begonias go, but I love them. They give me something to do. ;)

This 'Beefsteak' leaf took root in water. Took about 3-4 weeks.

I stuck this Begonia stem in this pot last summer. Starting to bloom!

These stems of 'Castaway' were put here about 3 months ago.
Thumb of 2016-07-02/purpleinopp/dd2c78

These stems were stuck last fall. I've taken cuttings from them a couple times so far this season to get more going. The 'Sinbad' is not as happy-go-lucky as the others I have. Having a few more individuals would make me less nervous. A couple died over winter.

Oh, wow all. So nice to see your starts take off so easily! ! !

OK, not really. I am really really jealous. lol. nodding nodding nodding

I have Carollina De Lucerna, Tiffany. Well, let me rephrase, I am slowly killing three stalks of Lucerna, in water. I love the fact you can stick them right in the dirt, and they grow. I on the other hand, am straining the cornea of my eyes, starring into the vase for any sign of life, every time I walk by the dang things. NOPE.... nuthin.

Nice pics guys. Enjoyed reading your successes.

Little stems I stuck exuberantly in the ground throughout this past summer did very little because of the extremely dry conditions. These have all taken root well and will spend the winter in this pot. (2nd pic is update added 1/13.)

Nov. 11, a few days after sticking this cutting here, over 3 feet tall:
Thumb of 2017-02-19/purpleinopp/c21b9e

Today. I cut the top half off yesterday to put elsewhere. It was leaning sideways all winter, and now 3 nice side branches are growing. That's how I decided where to cut it, I wanted the top of what was left to be these 3 branches. There's also a fat new stem coming up from the roots but I couldn't convince camera to focus on it today.

Thank you for the encouragement re: rooting the cane begonia. It's so hard to find them as a plant, and I've had them rot on me when trying to root before.

Happy to encourage, you can do it! I got discouraged at first trying to root in water, but since I've stuck to sticking stems in pots and in the ground, I don't think any have failed. The older, already-woody stems can take so long it seems like they're failing, but invariably, eventually, a new stem pops up from the new roots, always fatter than its' mama stem.

You can probably see some lack of perkiness in my last pic, but that's normal, from cuttings done this way, a little wilting while new roots form, some older leaves lost.
