Awesome articles, Rick, and yup, he was motivated! Because lasagne gardening takes time and I have plants that must be moved, he's going to do one as designed, but the other will be lasagne! I have high hopes :-)! Sticking tongue out

I always thought that people "can't" garden in pure compost, but apparently that's wrong. I think that some "lasagna people" throw their new beds together, and plant directly into the compost.

That always gave me chills until I remembered what happens to every plant or weed that I throw onto a compost heap. It recovers rapidly, puts down roots, and becomes the biggest healthiest plant in my yard. So it MUST work OK ... but I've never tried it deliberately.

To me, the process of creating new beds is the best and most exciting part of gardening. Just like weeding is the worst and most boring part!
