Oh no! I just went out my back door and found this on the deck! I'm assuming it's a bird egg, but I have no idea how it got onto my deck without breaking. Should I look for any nests around and try to put it back? I believe there's a Carolina Wren nest close by, but not even sure if that is what this is.
I think you're right about it being a Carolina Wren Ibis. I can only tell you what I would do & that would be look for the nest & put it back in if you can.

Thanks, Ann - that's what I did. I put it back into the Carolina Wren nest that I know about. It was empty though, so I'm afraid there might be another one somewhere else that I haven't found. It's still very strange how it ended up on my deck, quite a way from the nest, and wasn't broken.

looks like a wren egg , you can try to put it back , maybe a predator knocked it out or a brown headed cowbird replaced it with one of her own eggs.
either way the parents may abandon the nest
