Hi everyone, as some of you may know we're having a horrible june. Lots of rain, sometimes really heavy. Temperatures don't get above 70 F, and if it happens it's only for a couple of hour before a thunderstorm will hit. At night we're still around 60F if not less.
Blooming is slow, I see the blooms opne a bit but can't open well.
What you see in the picture I say it's because of rain and poor sun. This is Frank Smith. It's a bright orange, but look at how the bud is.
But it's really because of the rain or could be there another problem? I ask to you experts, because I don't want to overlook something.

This is one of the past year blooms:

As I'm writing the sky is turning dark again.. another thunderstorm it's on our way. Sighing!

I would chalk it up to all the rain.

Such a shame that you can't enjoy the blooms without the problems. I've always admired pictures of H. Frank Smith. Maybe the rains will start to ebb soon Group hug

Thank you Vickie.
The sad thing is that it's raining like november rain. I'd tolerate some quick thunderstorm during day, but the sky is dark, is cold and it rains a lot.

I think the cloudy cool weather is as much responsible as the actual rain. I had some do that when there was a stretch of cool weather after a warm spell.

We had really good days before of 27 may, then the weather changed, so all the buds are going to get ruined. I had to take off a half open bloom with mold in it.

Sad It makes me sick just reading about all your blooms being ruined.

And I was upset because my husband went around with a spreader full of grub control granules chemical yesterday Angry It got into all my beautiful opened daylilies. Even though most of the pictures I took yesterday were just for FFO records, it was still frustrating to get home from work to find them all ruined. But hopefully, today's blooms will be good.

I Have the same problem with a lot of mine, our weather was way above normal in late winter and early spring, since then, it's been alternating between being hot for a few days then cold the next few days. Poor buds have to be confused.
One of my seedlings has 4 scapes, 3 scapes of buds all ruined.
Every plant has this issue. It can't be thrips or mites because I use diatomaceous earth and or spray neem oil in the late evenings.
A True gardener will purchase a thousand plants before thinking of where to put them :P
