I had a visit last week. I picked up a 'Griggs Surprise' for Chris and bought a few things for myself. I will have to post pictures later. I'm out of town. I am signing up for a gardening with hardy cacti class with Timberline. So excited! Hurray!

Sounds like a great class Sandi! I see by your name in your posts that it says "crested lover". Do you already have a cactus collection? And lots of crested plants?

At one point in time I had a small greenhouse full of tender cacti. When I moved, I had to leave several of them behind. Sad I no longer have the room, since I live in the inner city. I have some hardy cacti in pots and in my yard. I just love the blooms in the spring. The class at Timberline might be useful for some gardening that I'm planning to do in the mountains (alpine garden).

I saw the most beautiful alpine gardens in Vail, Colorado yesterday. So, incredible! I thought of Lynn with her alpine plants! Lovey dubby Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera but my husband had his cell phone. I will try to upload a pic.

As for the Crested Lover......I love Chinese Crested dogs! What is a crested plant may I ask? Confused

Here's one - this is Sempervivum Whirl-i-Gig, one of the interesting crested or monstrose types.

Yay!!!! I'm so glad I found this forum!! I'm going to have to make a trip and visit Timberline! I have a few hens and chicks that were given to me from my friend and her mom. I hope to add more to my collection. I need to research and learn what soil mixture and such works best for them here in CO. I had my first chicks struggle the first year. Then last year they recovered only to be eaten by bunnies. I was so upset. Sad I have a couple that seem to have made it. We shall see. Any help you all could provide would be greatly appreciated!! ;-)

If you're registered with Groupon, watch it carefully. There' supposed to be a TImberline Groupon sometime in March and I haven't seen one yet so it could come up anytime.

Audrie, both tabby and picklepuff grow sempervivum and live you your area. They would be the best ones to help you with how to grow semps in Denver, CO. Thumbs up

Just shows what good taste you have.
I had so much fun at Timberline. I could have stayed there all day taking photos. Sighhhh
Could have spent all day taking photos at Denver Botanical Gardens also. Sighhhhh

There is just never enough time. I was really hopping to see Sandi's wonderful gardens, but we are leaving for home tomorrow morning.

We went to Tagawa Nursery yesterday after church and got my SIL plants for all her pots. Today we will get them all potted up. Hurray!

I've never been to Tagawa - there's too many good nurseries near me I guess.

Sandi, I really want to do a photo shoot of your garden soon while the color is still so good.

Chris, wish you could have been with all of us Sat.
It was awesome seeing Tabby's gardens, they are amazing. I love the way she grows her semps.
Wish I could have made it to Sandi's house. Sad
