We're working on the FAQ.... I've gone through the 3 pages of database discussion in this forum and grabbed all the questions/answers I could find, but I know there are more questions out there.

So what are YOUR questions about the database? I'm all ears I'm all ears!
here's what I have so far (updated 3 Oct).

Dave,
I was wondering if there would be a way to look through....let's say the Hemerocallis and ONLY see entries with photographs? Paging through 332 pages(with most entries empty) is alot. Hmmmm. Thanks!

"How can I be sure that my opinions about, or experience with, a certain plant are accurate enoguh, and generally applicable enough, to be worth submitting to the database?"

"Is it OK to add a comment or a data field entry if I learned it by reading books, magazines, or other online sources?"

"Is it usefull to enter the same comment to many species within a genus?" For example, pre-soaking Salvia seeds really speeds up sprouting and makes a higher % oif seeds sprout. However, that one comment could be added to hundreds of sp3ecies or cultivars. Maybe it is too generic to be added at all.

Under plant traits in the Dayllily section of plant descriptions, I believe we need a box to check for the trait 'Fragrant' .

Janice, we check off the fragrance in the upper section, in the Flowers portion. I had Dave do all the auto-check portions that applied to daylilies, Showy Flowers was one of them and Fragrant is right below it. We also check off the the Minimum cold hardiness in that upper portion, those are the only two items that need to be checked in that upper portion for daylilies.
Please see my tutorial for more details.

In this particular instance, perhaps Dave could add a "Soak" box to the list under Propagation: Seeds?

I just noticed we can suggest a photo for the data base. Mine has copyrights on them from cubits: (my article on purlsane was carried over). can those be removed?

yes *Blush* sorry!

Okay next question. I tried to add photo of purslane from my pwn collection that I posted on the Purslane -Portulaca forum and I was given an automatic response saying the photo was not eligible. What do I need to do differently?

The photos we posted in Cubits in the first few days or perhaps the first few weeks are not convertible. Dave was going to work on that because there are thousands of them. We really hit the ground running when Cubits started. Hilarious!

I think he said the first 11 days. I think it was somewhere in the second week of Feb. 2010 where they started uploading again.

ummmm maybe I'm tired but I am confused. It was that acorn fight...I had a few hit me right in the nose.

When I go to the Purslane Forum here and click on a photo, it won't load. Is it because of what you are saying? A glitch of some sort?

I can get around it I think.

If it's the part of the Purslane forum that came from Cubits and dates back to the first 11 days of Cubits' existence, it won't work.
