I wear socks and Birkies in the winter, or with my crocs.
I hate heat, hate it, hate it...Winters in SoCal are wonderful, where we were for 32 years, our property never got frost...I would dread the coming of Summer, plus it got to be so that the wildfires were just too much after we had to evacuate once.
The first Winter we were here was really great...not that cold and only about 30 inches of rain, where this area used to get around 40-60 inches. This past Winter was colder with a few nights down to around 25 and I lost a few plants, seemed like more rain, but I think it was really about the same. We're considered Banana Belt with Brookings, Oregon, 30 miles north of us, being even more so. We did get a few hard frosts this last Winter and my friend in Pistol River, 50 miles north got none, never does. We're both right on the ocean. Brookings has the Chetco River running to the ocean there from inland and the warmer inland air mass will sometimes move down the river to Brookings, making it maybe 85 degrees...called the Chetco Effect....far too hot, we will head home to Crescent City from there and be 10-15 degrees cooler when we get home....Plus we have the Redwoods. To me it's just perfect....though I must add that the town was hit hard with the 60's Tsunami and they do say that the Cascadia Faultline will cause the whole northwest coast to drop off into the ocean sometime soon....other than that,we're good.....LOL...
