I have added a couple of entries or proposed changed to already existent entries, but I noticed that there is no field which states where the plant actually comes from; where it grows in the wild. Could we add such a field? And while I'm writing this, how about a field for the author of the species, or is that too technical?

For Sempervivum we have History of species or cultivar. That is where I have been putting that kind of information. It would be great to have it in the top information box so it is available to all plants when needed.
