Hello

I just got these two split rock. Looks like there are little holes in them. I am new to succulent plant not sure if the holes are the sign of insect infection. If so, do you have any recommendations on the indoor pesticide? How to apply?
Thanks

Looks more like leaf edema to me. I will just leave it alone for now and observe some more. It may just dry out on its own. I would suggest be careful with watering or humidity, and keep this plant as dry as possible.

Did they come that way? I suspect they were stabbed by a neighbor cactus in the nursery. As Tarev says, easy on the water. Mine only get watered every couple weeks.

Thank you Tarev. Since they just arrived bare root, I potted them 2 days ago. Can they receive direct sunlight now?

As with most succulents, do it gradually with direct sun. More often, they just need bright light, not too much direct sun. To be honest, I failed dismally with my Split Rock before . good luck with them, they are truly lovely, It is after overwintering that I failed..ugh!

Give them very bright light but no direct sun.

The sunlight from the window facing east is direct or indirect sunlight?

Indoor sun is not direct because regular window glass filters out most of the UV and maybe 10-15% of the visible light.

You cannot give your Pleiospilos too much sun indoors (given good ventilation and moderate temperatures). I have one growing by a SW-facing window that gets hours of daily sun year-round and it flowers every year. Awesome smell on the flowers, sometimes more intense than others, like piƱa colada. Mmmmm. It has opened every afternoon for the past week.

Moving them to the window deck today to let them receive some sunlight. But the leaf of this split rock is shriveling Crying Anything I can do to save it?

What is that, a Conophytum maybe? They shrivel up and make new leaves yearly. I don't grow that plant. It could be normal behavior, but I don't know what the normal shriveling season is. Typical advice is to leave the shriveling plants alone until they start renewing with new growth (if that's what it is, actually).

You have two nice Pleiospilos nelii . The one on the left is var. rubra.
My avitar is a blooming Pleiospilos nelii var. rubra.
These plants do like filtered sunlight, not direct outdoor sun.
As Baja mentioned the window does naturally filter some light.
These plants do like it more on the dry side.
I have killed too many of them by over-watering.
Mine do best when I grow them in small pots.
The outer leaves do normally shrivel up and turn crisp.

Just be patient with it cecilly, in time it will form a new pair of leaves from the center, and the outer leaves will shrivel. Good luck!

I had bought a purple and green split rock years ago and planted them together. I was told (too late) that the purple one takes less water than the green one. You might want to separate them.

Really! I've had a purple one and green one growing together for years.

They are doing well so far. The shriveling is not spreading, thus I think the little shriveling is due to the wounds.
