Thread OP

Found these in Northern VA Mtns. Meadow area surrounded by woodland. Only found 2...suspect deer like them because 3 days later they were chewed in half...no flowers as a result!

Maybe Lysimachia quadrifolia.

The leaves arrange in whorle usually 4 but also more.

Thanks for your suggestion!

We do have Lysimachia ciliata...I'm fairly sure it's not that species though...and I couldn't really see the hairs that I see are quite apparent on L. quadrifolia BUT it does look Lysimachia-esque.....anything else you can think of in this genus or closely related? Also, I am not terribly good at identifying because I know there's always an element of variability/variation....I don't have a good feel for how much Rolling my eyes. ! In other words...your first guess just might be correct?!
