While we do have a forum where members chat, ask questions and swap ideas on ponds (http://garden.org/forums/view/...), I would like to open a separate forum where we can discuss other types of water features such as fountains, waterfalls, etc. There will undoubtedly be some overlap between the two, but I think there are many out there that want do incorporate some type of water feature in their landscaping, but don't have the space or desire to actually maintain a pond or water garden.

Your thoughts?

I think two separate forums may be confusing. Perhaps just rename the Pond forum to Ponds & Water Features, then individual threads could be started for specific types of alternate ponds. I find a big difference myself between a farm type pond (large and usually more of a native habitat) than smaller yard ponds (often featuring koi and cultivated water plants). And there are many types of other water features, including rain gardens, pondless bubblers, dry streams that serve as overflow channels during heavy rains, etc. Renaming the Pond forum may simply encourage more discussion/ideas on these other water related features.

Or, before renaming an active existing forum, why not start a thread for the water features and see how many people want to participate in the discussion.

Ha ha -- I went to the Pond forum (it's not on my watch list) and found that it is already (or perhaps recently revised) called "Ponds and Water Gardening" -- seems to cover whatever anyone might want to talk about. Carry on...

I agree Ponds and Water Gardening would seem to cover any type of water features.
