Larry and I talked it over, and we would like to host a seed and plant swap this fall. We're thinking of Saturday, 01-Oct-2016.

My thought was to set up the swap tool like Jill did for the spring, with the swap closing on Monday, 26-Sep-2106 so everyone had time to pull it all together. (I remember myself and others still scrambling at the last minute the past spring because the wewather was being very rude and uncooperative.)

Your thoughts?

Life is "mind over matter". If I d
Rick--
I had also decided to hold the Fall Swap. It--took a lot of nerve....but I thought
I may, actually, be able to pull it off... Whistling
Then Jill posted that Catmint was holding the Fall Swap--and Jan (Delaware) will host
the spring one.

You need to check the forums and see what is what by now. I am not sure.
I think it is nice that two NEW people (to hosting a Swap) offered to hold the fall swap--
and then found out someone else is doing it.
I would love to attend YOUR Swap--Ric. I have a huge amount of seeds.

Usually, the two are not combined.
The Seed swap is held end of February at Chef Lin's Chinese Buffet (YUM) in Frederick' end of February. It has now been held there for ??? 9 years????

Contact Jill--she runs the seed swap . It is a delicious place to "play'...OHHH--the foood!!!

Thanks for the update Gita.

I' m on everyday, and don't recall seeing anything from Jill, Catmint of Jan. I dug a little deeper into the MAG forum and found it at The thread "Fall Swap" in Mid Atlantic Gardening forum

Unfortunately, the way the forums work, it was quickly pushed down further and further.

Rick--Glad you had it figured out. I am too old--and do not have any "social media" thinking.
Smart phone or Facebook, or anything. NOPE! I cannot keep up with what is going on
except here--by Posts on Garden.Org.

Drive your Post in the ground and claim the date for YOUR Swap!
Talk to CAM--He held a Swap last year. It was lovely. he had NEVER done
this before either.
IN my opinion--these events are getting TOO organized, restricted, and regulated.
Used to be a lot more relaxed--come as you are--bring whatever you have,
something to eat, etc..

I miss the good ole days. Gita

Thanks for posting a schedule, Rick--and thanks for offering to hold next year's swap, too! Thumbs up This will be my first time hosting a swap as well. Derwood--I had no idea you were so nearby! I live near Rockville.

@gitagal, my friend...not much has changed over the years with regard to the swaps. We live and learn since the very first one at Diane's back in 2007. Most 'changes' have made things run smoother which in turn equals less stress for most. Maybe share what exactly you miss from 'the good ole days'...there might be others that miss it as well. I know the swap tool is something new to some of us and there's a bit of a learning curve but we've always kept track of who's giving what to who...otherwise we'd end up with a repeat of 2007 which was A LOT OF EXTRA plants in need of homes...
“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...
