I was given a small cutting of this about 30 years ago and was told it was a broad leaf cactus. It is woody rather than succulent, the leaves turn beautiful yellow/orange with pinkish red on the bottom when it is in full sun; it gets leggy without enough sun in the winter. The thorns are narrow and sharp (a lesson I repeatedly seem to have to learn first hand). It roots very easily from cuttings. I'm told it is native to Africa. Anyone know what it is? Thanks!!

Could it be a Pereskia? Although that one would not be native to Africa..

It looks a lot like Barbados Gooseberry (Pereskia aculeata)

It's listed as an invasive species in Africa. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

That looks like it! Thank you!
This one has never bloomed for me but the color of the leaves more than makes up for it. Now that I know what it is I can look at what it wants in order to bloom.

Again, thank you!
