After coddling my 5 Plumerias for the past 7 years, I finally have blooms on one! Pretty flowers and the smell is just lovely! Hurray!

I just added it to the first post. I'm sorry to say I am not good at pictures, it took a lot of tries just to get the blooms to show as flowers and not white blobs, LOL!

Thank you all, I am so happy about the bloom. It make all that toting in and out for years worth it! All I wanted to do was to have their fragrance and beauty in my home, I so love scented flowers. And these are not a powerful scent, only a sort of subtle Lily of the Valley.

Ken, I don't know what varieties these are, the grower I received them from said they were crosses but didn't specify the mix. They were all seedlings, not cuttings. The other ones have different leaves, more scalloped ridges at the edges

Terri, since they were seedlings, you can name that one in bloom and even register the name with the PSA if you wish. Hurray!

Cool, I did not know that, Ken! So, you don't need to know the parents?

No. I know the seed-pod parent of several of my seedlings but have no clue who they are with many others. In my opinion it really doesn't matter a great deal to even know the seed-pod parent though. The seedlings will never be true to the parent (even if you know that the plant was self-pollinated). The plants and flowers may have characteristics of the seed-pod parent, but nothing more. That's the fun of growing from seed. You neither know what the plant nor the flower will look like. I have some seedlings from a couple of compacts and I do hope those seedlings will at least be compacts. I can't tell yet.

Here are two examples of knowing the seed-pod parent and then the seedling's flower:

Thumb of 2016-07-03/drdawg/f1e2e9 Plumeria rubra Bill Moragne - seed-pod parent

Thumb of 2016-07-03/drdawg/308320 Plumeria DD's Delight - my seedling

Thumb of 2016-07-03/drdawg/7c7620 Plumeria rubra Volare - seed-pod parent

Thumb of 2016-07-03/drdawg/220a7f Plumeria rubra Kathryn's Fuchsia Fantasy - my seedling

You can see a bit of the characteristics with K's Fuchsia Fantasy and the seed-pod parent but I would never know that the DD's Delight was related to Bill Moragne. I now have a couple of seedlings growing from seed-pods of Kathryn's Fuchsia Fantasy, and it will be interesting to see whether these seedlings' flowers resemble their mother's.

Thank you Terri. Just Mother Nature at her best.

Oh yes. Wonderful fragrances. The K's Fuchsia Fantasy has a fragrance of honeysuckle and rose with a hint of pear. DD's Delight has a floral, rose-like fragrance. You can see all my plumeria on my website.
