Celebrating Gardening: 2015
I think that finally I got the right bulb.......last year got something in place of it by mistake.......from the lily breeder....
I can see them coming up but not as tall as what I have read about them
the biggest thing I have noticed is how leaves are so huge on this plant and more or less just flop around.....
we had a bit of wind yesterday and this lily was moving back and forth in the bed........the other lilies that are close to it were not doing that at all.......
the buds are super slow

I guess the downside to this plant is that it only has a short lifespan and I wander if it worth trying to scale the bulb or just buy new ones later.....

from what I read it can put out 20 blooms on some plants and mine are counting about 3 or 5 buds and that is it.........but they are budding.........

I have a feeling they will be very late blooming here........

they have their heads in the sun and the bottom of the plant in the shade..........I have also heard they an be finicky to get to bloom..... I had originally planned on planting them in a much lower PH more about 5.6 but they are in about 6.7 now or a bit more.......

I know that this species was very important in many hybrids....

does anyone have much luck growing this?? do you just replace the bulbs....
how long does it take to flower from seed?? or scaling??
