We made homemade buns today and grilled burgers. The star though was the rat tail potatoes made with radish greens, seed pod, arugula, new potatoes and various herbs. Oh, broccoli raab was in there too. Then we had a literal garden salad of spinach, tendefoot lettuce, Simpson lettuce and beet greens.

I was actually hoping for pizza, but our town is shut down tight. Who would have thought?? Didn't think this was such a big deal holiday. Oh well...

Grilled hot dogs, asparagus, and roasted corn on the cob to make Elote, Mexican Street Corn. I'm vegetarian. I stuffed a zucchini for myself and grilled that. Had some chips to go with it and to add a crunchy textured food. We were all too full to eat the watermelon. Then we went on my Son-In-Law's Navy ship to watch The Big Bay Bang Fireworks Show. Very fun day! Happy 240th Birthday, America!

We went up to a casino in Mn as I had received special coupons for not going there for years and got a free room.
They had what they called a special 777 prime rib dinner, named after the slot machine so we tried it.
For $7.77 we had a absolutely great prime rib, seared hard just the way I love it, and a large baked potato, great, with carrots that did not taste like they came out of a bag.

This morning we used our five buck coupons on breakfast so a buffet breakfast for two cost $7.98.
It was very good as there was a woman at the grill making you omelets or real fried eggs the way you wanted them.
I like my eggs sunny side up and not cooked hard, so she popped them off of the grill when I said so smiling.
I still have another coupon for a free room and five bucks off of a meal left so although it is 150 plus miles away, and the machines were tight, I just might go back.

They seem to know how to make their money back, @RpR. Whistling When I go to a casino, I know I will lose money but consider it payment for the night-out. When I lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and several large casinos were built within a half hour from home, my wife and I went to "gamble" every Thursday night. We did that for about a year and then tired of it. Now I live in NE Mississippi, and there is a pair of casinos about an hour away. We probably go and spend the night at one of those casinos once a year.

The reason it's so hard to lose weight when you get up in age is because your body and your fat have become good friends.

One bad thing was this was a rare year and I have been shooting them unsupervised since I was in single digits of age, I shot no fireworks.
A storm went through at night and for what ever reason I had, had a lingering headache, the kind you can ignore if you choose but you know is always there, for the entire trip, for which I had taken sinus and allergy medicine several kinds all at once and did not know until it was too late some was the kind you take at night to help you sleep, therefore; I was on and off very tired but ploughed threw it.

Sharon bless her heart, asked me on the fifth if I still want to go over to Fargo to get some fireworks as they have big clearance prices on the fifth and I had said before we left we had to go there.
Maybe that excellent low priced breakfast put her in such a good mood.
At first I said no as I was still dragging myself around but when she said are you sure, I said OK.

I finally had to let her drive for a bit but by the grace of God woke up just before we got to the part of the road where you have to change highways several times.
I bought 700 buck worth of fireworks for 319 dollars so I am set-up pretty well for next year.
