Thread OP

My stargazer lily plant has bloomed 6 years in a row and are the typical beautiful pink color. This year when they bloomed they are all white, not even a tint of pink or any other color. I am confused and devastated. They are potted and outdoors but have always been and always bloomed pink. Can you help me understand what happened and will they ever be pink again?

Liliums do not change into a different type of lilium. Sometimes pink lilies can fade to a white or lighter shade of color if an oriental lily is exposed to extreme heat. Do you have any pictures of what you are seeing as compared to previous years?

Years ago my aunt had a mixed color bed of irises. One year she asked me why they all turned white.
I didn't have an answer then but another summer I planted some lilacs for her and found out how poor
the soil was. I was never at her house to see the lilacs bloom, but they made very little growth. Planting them showed me that the "soil" was the sandiest I'd ever seen, and I guessed that the irises had used up
whatever nutrition had been there.

Iris do not turn colors. They are genetically forced to bloom the color they are supposed to be. It may be that you had a white one that was more vigorous than the other colors and it choked out the others.

Welcome! @wshsfcalady

I'm afraid this is the Lilium (Lily) forum and so you may not have much relevant discussion to your question about Irises. Frillylily has the most likely answer - the white one was probably the most vigorous.

Some other possibilities are discussed on the Iris forum in threads such as this one:
The thread "Identification and MISidentification" in Irises forum

I have only had one type of lilies whichbare stargazers. This year at least 1/2 the blooms are stark white. These same plants were very typical pink lasr year. Any actual plant scientists in the crowd that can explain this phenomenon? The ones that were typically oink where quite large and have come and gone
