The asciatics did fine and seemed to blooming ok and they have a bit of shade......
but the OT's and Regale and most of the other ones have burnt buds......
We are way up in the low 90's here and that is not the norm for zone 5a usually
but this year the heat has been unreal.....
it will be even warmer next week...........
so likely will not be posting to many blooming lilies unless we get a cold snap and some rain
watering by hand and mulch did nothing for this year...
Frustrated and hope the lilies come back ok next year.....

and not seen anything like this in any lilies I have planted ever

if not the heat then the lily beetle is the culprit too....
got them under control with 1/3 sunlight soap, 1/3 ammonia and the rest water to equal one quart.......
works good but needs to be done every 5 to 7 days.......

It's the heat here. I divided my Easter Lillie's late as I do every year but I noticed the flowers didn't last very long on the mother plant. The babies are at least safe staying underground while this blazing summer hits. Next spring they'll be ready to come up.

I hope all mine come back normal next year and for this year will enjoy all the pics on here.......
the oriental lilies are not near ready yet and are still budding and not sure what they will do but some of them have some shade
next week we are hitting hot temps like Texas
and then on top of that no rain to speak of lately

Do you spray this soap-ammonia solution directly on your lilies? Did the problems with burnt buds start before or after you started doing this?
I only wonder as sometimes spraying can burn buds and flowers (and foliage as well). Especially so if spraying during the day as sunlight makes the problem worse.

No the spray solution has been going on for some time now and the lilies had no burning in the buds at all at that time.......
the asciatic lilies were sprayed as well and they are all fine......and bloomed ok too......
the ones that the buds are burnt are in the direct hot sun...........
the ones that seem to be ok have all a bit of shade........

some of the cultivators that took the heat the worst are the ones that you would not think would.... Regale is one that did not like it much although some are blooming but the top of the buds are gone ...but still some are blooming and yet other Regale in the same area are all fine......just not the big blooms like normal.

Lankon on the other hand seems to love the heat...........but none of them are blooming yet but the buds are forming nicely so far.........hope that keeps up

We have some severe thunderstorms over the next couple of days and cooler temps for a few days after that and HOPE everything blooms..asap....
this is not fun seeing all this happen and frustrating as you would not believe....

the beetles are incredible with all this heat as well........and gross on top of it too... and not did not spray the buds on all of them.........the foliage that was lost is mostly due to the beetles....

the lilies are all sprayed at 6am here or late at night at dusk......
not much choice in the spraying either........
no direct insecticides are allowed here.....have to all natural.......

they are working on bringing in wasps as they did in Europe where these things came from in the first place to try to combat them.......
there are no known pests for them but noticed some preying mantis around the gardens and some birds that seem to like them as well

That's good to know that the spraying didn't cause any harm . Quite an interesting remedy actually and not one I've personally tried. The lily beetle is very well established here and I have spent much time squishing them, their eggs and the larvae .
Unfortunately it seems the weather these days always goes in one extreme direction or another. I hope you get some better weather very, very soon.
