I noticed strange patterns of white appearing on my summer squash leaves a couple weeks ago, it doesnt seem to resemble any online photos of powdery mildew but if it indeed is plz let me know. If its not PM is it another disease? Also for the past week ive seen the vine borrer moths flying around, and was wondering if what im seeing down below on the main stalk is early borrer damage, i dont see any frass at the moment, but the stem is cracking, and i know those darn moths have been around.
Thx for the welcome, i just found several eggs on two of my pumpkin plants, there in the same garden as my squash plants, have yet to spot any on the squash, i wonder if they prefer punpkin lol
Get a product organic called bt its a disease of caterpillars you take a marmalade injector and inject the bt mixed with water into the plant stem that should stop the borers you can buy by on Amazon
I think I may have found a solution to pickle worm . I liveun zone 7 ,last year I planted spaghetti squash away from other squash and cuke. The spaghetti squash got picklworms.but the other squash and cukes didn't. I had planted dill and lemon balm around the other squash but not around my spaghetti. The spaghetti got pickle worm the others didn't. This year I planted them all around my dill and lemon balm, NO PICKLEWORMS YET its July 14th in Atlanta Ga zone7 .hoping this works
Yes, that is a completely normal pattern on your squash leaves. Some varieties have this mottled pattern and some don't. I think it looks pretty.
Probably the SVB did get into that stem. Sometimes injecting BT works. You can also spray it as a preventative all around the stem and interior of the plants.
hope the vine borers will leave you alone so you'll get plenty of squash this year.
