I would be grateful for and ID and any other information (e.g., culinary or other uses) for the lovely mint plants with pink flowers that are growing wild along the roadside near my rural home:









Plants are 1 - 3 feet tall. Stems are square; leaves are opposite.

I have mint with white flowers in my garden and use it to make tea. Are all members of the mint family useful for tea or are some better than others?

Yes, it fits the description for germander, and crushed leaves do not smell like mint.

I have germander in one of my gardens and I do not really use it for anything , but it is good to attract insect for pollination . I have observed several predator wasps also like this plant.

Sounds like it earns its space in the garden! Do you have the wild form or a cultivar derived from it?

Well I guess it may be wild I did not purchase it and can't remember where it came from . May have been a bird gift ? I have motherwort and vervain via bird or? Things just show up in the garden , I am not a tidy gardener

I can tell you it has a tendency to spread like beebalm just showing up here and there a ways from the original. It looks like a weed when small so most of them get pulled unless they are near the area the originals live.

Yes, the birds and other animals do have their own ideas about garden design. Here the squirrels seem determined to turn my gardens into hickory forests.
