These two were flying with each other in middle of the road. I saw them, but my sister who was driving....did not..... they both landed on the ground. My day was shot when I saw it.......

I drove back and found both on the ground. Both alive.

I took them home to my garden, one flew away, the other I have next to me, he or she is don for. Just keeps walking in circle, but I'll be there until it passes.

My question is, what species?

I looked it up, and they appear to be Papilio ployxenes. But both resemble female?

I thought only males tangled.... am I missing something here?

They can be very territorial so one was probably chasing the other off.

FYI, you can't delete your post (only a moderator can do that) but there is an "edit" thing you can click on to add more info. Or you can just add a reply to yourself. Thumbs up
