I don't have a clue, but I like the look of it. Someone who know something will come along.

Depends who you ask...

And...
There are also benefits to your other plants when growing amaranth as a "nursery weed".

You might be interested in researching amaranth as it applies to permaculture...

Princess, a little more information please. It appears to my eyes that you may have started this plant from seeds...is that correct? If so, do you remember what else you were planting at the time? If not, did you dig these up from outside and place them into the container?
I'm guessing it could be Red Root Pigweed aka Amaranthus retroflexus but that's only a guess.

I prefer to refer to growing compost instead of weeds. ;)

I started these from seeds I ordered on EBay that were suppose to be pilea peperomioides, ( Sighing! yeah I know, I've learned my lesson). Of course I didn't know that it wasn't what I wanted until after they had grown. But I did know that it wasn't what I wanted. Here are pictures of the seeds.

Amaranth can come as weed. But some also as vegetable here Smiling

They have shiny tiny seeds in black or brown. Very similar to the seeds in the picture. Smiling
