I would like to add all my plants to the plant list, but I cannot see how to put in my own pictures. Do I need to post the picture first in a forum, I am just not seeing how to attach pictures at the plant list site

lauriebasler, for your own personal photo to appear in your personal plant list, you first have to upload your photo to the database.

You can create your plant list but if you don't have one of your own photos in the database for each plant, the picture that shows will be another from the database.

Actually, I think you can add your photo to your list if you have posted it elsewhere on the site. If it's in the database, you can copy and paste the db link (the BB code, which looks like this):
Thumb of 2016-07-20/woofie/2880c2
Or, if you've posted your photo somewhere else on the site, copy the "lightbox" dialogue, which looks like this (if you hit "quote" in the thread or Tree-mail where the photo appears, you'll be able to copy and paste the link into the comments section of your list)
Thumb of 2016-07-20/woofie/c29737
(Heh, to make it easy to find, I T-mailed the photo to myself.)
A teeny bit involved, but once you get the hang of it, it doesn't take long.

Anyone know of an easier way?

Edited to add: forgot to include a photo of where the DB code is in the database. sigh.

All that is unnecessary. If you have uploaded a photo to the database it will automatically appear in your plant list.

This is what I believe is how the system chooses what to display in the plant list. Perhaps @dave can verify if I am correct.
If you have no photo in the database, then the priority photo from the database will display.
If you upload a photo to the database then your photo will display.
If you upload more than one photo of the same plant then the first photo you uploaded first gets displayed
If you upload more than one photo and they start to accumulate thumbs up, then the one with the most thumbs up gets displayed.

Jay, what I posted was for if you want to include your photo in the comment section, not as a thumbnail. Sorry, I didn't make that clear.

I've included quite a few pics of my own plants in the database but only the first photo posted shows up in my list, not necessarily my own plant. I couldn't find a way to pick/choose which image would display in my list.

@CarolHB, I just looked at your profile page and you've uploaded 14 images to the database so for those 14 particular plants in your plant list, your own photo should appear when you view your list.

I realize that woofie, I just wanted everyone to know that all that is not necessary just to get one of your photos to show in your list. There are situations where you might want to do that. Adding a photo to the comment section creates a much larger image, which could be good or bad depending on your point of view.

Thanks Lin - I'll check my plantlist again and see what those pics are - its been a while since I noticed. Could be I hadn't uploaded my own pic before adding the plant to my list.

If I have uploaded more than one photo for my plant, how can I choose which one shows up when I view my plant list?

Thanks

The most popular photo (of the ones you have uploaded) is shown in your plant list for plants that are in the database.

If it's a custom plant entry, then it's usually the first photo uploaded that is used for the thumbnail.

Adding, by that, Australis means the one that has the most likes from other people (hence, most popular) is the one that appears (if you have multiple photos uploaded to the same plant). Grin
