These tend to grow in our fenced in pool area.
For years, thinking they were weeds I'd pull them out.
In Spring, (early May) of this year I missed this one and after I noticed that I had I just let it grow to see what would transpire.
The ground around our pool area is sandy but some spots have black dirt on top of the sand and grass is growing on top of the black dirt.
These “flowers” are growing in a grassy full sun area close to our pool pump.
Some of the flowers bloomed and fell off and the 2nd bunch of buds did not open but did dry up so I cut a few off and brought them into the house to dry up a bit more.
After they were crispy brown I noticed tiny little black poppy seed type seeds on the paper plate that I had them positioned on to dry.
I saved the seeds to plant next Spring though I doubt that I'll have to plant them because I'm pretty sure that they will come up again.
Some of the ground leaves look "clover-ish" the stems leaves do not, also, the stems are purple-ish.
I’m thinking they are Spring flowers since the buds started drying out when the temps became warmer.
Anyone have an idea as to what these are?

Columbine

Definitely Columbine. Great plant to have!! Hummingbirds love it.

And that is an extra nice one with double flowers. They are perennials, meaning they will be back next year.

Is a Columbine considered a wildflower?
If not I'll call mine a volunteer, you know, one of those that a seed blows into your yard and plants itself.

IE: Attracts Hummingbirds; So does the flower in my profile picture which is also growing in my yard though I don’t know the name of it or what kind of flower it is.
A friend of mine captured these 2 beauties via celly telly when she was visiting.

If in fact your plant is Aquilegia vulgaris 'Black Barlow' it is not a wildflower - i.e. not native at all. It was hybridized and considered a cultivar.

It is considered a short lived perennial and an individual plant will peter out after a few years. Obviously some one (or thing - i.e. a bird) planted it there.

When some thing "pops up" it is often best to let it bloom and see what it is rather than ripping it out.

Since this is short lived you should not dead-head and toss away the seeds, but gather some and toss then about.

BTW - yes there are some Columbine that are natives - i.e. wildflowers. American Columbine (Aquilegia canadensis

Nope, didn't dead-head they are still on the plant in the pool area, I did however save the seeds from the 3 crispy buds that I'd brought into the house and I am going to sow them in a few different places in our yard.
It will be fun to watch them grow, Mother Nature (and those volunteer birds ) is/are so incredible.
