I love crocosmia's! What seems to be a common thing in my garden over the last 2 years is...mine all died this year.

Betsy, yours are beautiful. Never knew they were iris. I have plenty orange if anyone wants some.

I should have plenty. I throw dozens away every year. They multiply like mad here.

There's a business i drive by that's neatly decorated with those mixed into the landscape. Now I know what they are

Down to zone 6 unprotected at least

They are.

And they are beautiful.
Down to -10 degrees unprotected.

And down to -30 if well protected.

They don't like to be dry.
They don't like to be soggy.

You just need to keep them damp/moist.

So irrigation is perfect for them,

The one I have is called

"Yellow Lucifer"
It's a very tall one that blooms at 4 feet.

I didn't know they were related. I planted scarlet ones last year and they must have not liked the spot because they didn't come back. A friend has a lot in his yard.

Must have been a particularly brutal winter. Although they are supposedly hardy for my zone I plan on mulching them good and coveting them with straw.

What are those red flowers in the picture?

They are his scarlet Crocosmia. He has a lot he would probably share with me if I wanted to try again. I am enjoying the red next to his black hollyhocks.
