I notice some posts contain a box containing the posts of other members. How does one do that?

Look over in the lower right corner of any post and you will see a link that say Quote. Find the link in the post you want to quote from and click on it. It will open a new reply page with the quote in it. Add any comments you want below that.

Jay thank you so much for this info. I have been doing the copy paste thing for adding a quote to a new post. Rolling my eyes.

I occasionally find this feature annoyingly redundant. If you are responding directly after a post, there is no need to repeat the post. Especially when the original post includes several photos. Just creates unnecessary scrolling. I find myself just exiting out of the thread if there are more than one long 'repeats.' I do find it useful if one is responding to a post that is several posts away, which I assume is what it was created for, and even in that case it would be nice to edit the quote to what one is specifically responding to rather than the entire original post. Just my peeve, no offense intended.

Edited to add: sometimes I'm just an old crank...
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.

That was why I was doing copy and paste. I could reply to several posts in a thread, leaving out the parts that did not need repeating.

I think some folks that use the feature may not realize they can edit the info with the block and shorten it to only the part(s) to which they are responding.

I agree that it does get annoying, but don't agree that Bonehead is an old crank. Hilarious!

Well now I am sufficiently terrorized not to use this feature unless I edit. So the question arises, how does one do that?

Use the quote feature, copy and paste the entire quote that is in brackets, past into your new post. Then delete out the parts you don't want to address in your new post. Be sure to leave the quote brackets at the beginning and ending of the quote.

No worries. Compose your text including the quote and hit 'Preview' to see what the message looks like. If it's not the way you want, keep editing and hitting 'Preview' until it looks good. Thumbs up
