We came from here
The thread "Best Orchid book" in Orchids forum

Hi everyone...look what I found at our local thrift store today. Got all three for $1.20. I know most of the info is old school...1988...1992...1999. I like collecting old orchid books to see how much things change from year to year.

As it has been awhile since anyone posted about "best" orchid book and many have been published since 2016, I'm wondering if there are any newer books that you can recommend? My 90 year old mother has gotten into orchids and I purchased a smallish book on orchids and now she wants more detailed information! She has "Growing Orchids for Beginners" by Kathy Campbell at this time. Do you have any suggested titles I should check out for her?

Probably been out of print for around 25-30 years but copies pop up all over the place. Used orchid book dealers might have a copy. Those can be found in a Google search. This book features several sections on growing Cattleyas primarily and the second half of the book talks about growing other popular types of orchids.
Many of the newer books address certain genera or a particular group of orchids. You might be looking for a general purpose book. Home orchid growing was my go to book back in the mid to late 70's.
If she is computer savvy, get her a membership in the AOS. They have weekly orchid webinars on a broad range of topics.
From the AOS web site there is a "membership benefits" pull down menu. Within are culture sheets in the form of pdf files. They cover most of the major genera. Say she would like to grow Phalaenopsis, the culture sheet may be all she needs.

Specific books can be found on line too. But most would be much too specific. That's why I went with a general knowledge book.
Lastly, be careful with You tube videos out there. For everyone good one, there is likely to be several bad ones.

I didn't quite realize that other members here had copies of, or knew of this book. I don't think we talk a good deal of books or written Orchid material.
At the MOS show in March, there was an available copy on the Book Sale table. Maybe I should have picked it up?
