I went to Michigan Bulb Company online looking for what I can plant in shade. So I ordered:
3 Cora Bells
1 Bleeding Heart
3 Cyclamen
15 Crocus

And since my Naked Ladies are in shade and bloom beautifully I may buy more of them.
My plan is to plant all along the back fence in the shade......now I just have to decide how to
keep from getting them dog trampled and what I need to protect from squirrels. Confused Crying

I hate to be a party pooper, but Michigan Bulb Company has a notoriously bad reputation.
You may want to consider canceling your order with them and ordering elsewhere.

On a positive note, your "naked ladies" are absolutely stunning!!! Lovey dubby

I've ordered from Michigan Bulb with no particular problem. I don't do much in the way of mail order plants, but don't recall anything untoward from these guys.

I will store with my order and take a chance, hope all goes well! I got a 50/50 chance I guess, I spent just under $40, so that was
not bad if I lose out. What was the complaint, poor plants or poor shipping?

Yikes I read many reviews, most seemed negative, now I think my chances are 30 % in my favor 70% against, but hope I am wrong
and at least spent just under $40. I live right by a great nursery and will keep that in mind if it all goes south, will let you know,
my order is due to arrive mid September.

They have had a bad rep for a long time. I ordered from them when I first started gardening some 30 yrs ago. I ordered a Hydrangea, Lily bulbs, dayliies. 30 yrs later they were surviving and doing well 5 yrs ago when I sold the house. Their plants are small so you may not want to just store them but get them in some good soil immediately.

I have ordered some bulbs a couple years ago because they sent me a coupon that I could get 20 in plants free. Not the coupon that if I purchased 40 they would take 20 off. So I ordered just 20.00 for the free plants to see if they were bad. The bulbs were good. I think their plants are small and need a lot of tender care. They are not garden ready to throw in a hole and fend for themselves.

I have ordered from places like Michigan bulb that send small plants that I have a raised bed, that I call my nursery. The area consist totally of my home made compost soil. When I get the plants I put them in that area for at least a year.

I love Lowe's almost as much as I love plants.
Lowe's is great for most all things.
But Lowe's also has discounted plants EVERY week.
Some need a little care and others are amazing.
Those that need extra care - have a holding spot at my house where they live till decide how well they are going to adjust.
I have talked to other people that buy those plants and seems like the holding spot is a common practice.

Well it has been a good year for my special purchases from Lowe's.
I purchased some awesome shrubs for approx 25% of the normal price and they were so great.
Have fixed up some sightly areas, now they look great.

Also, bulbs - they always put what bulbs they have left on sale - and keep marking them down till they're gone.
If you're not in a terrible hurry and you don't follow that making a chart etc., you can end up with 10 times and many plants, bulb, planters etc.
Of course you need room for all of that.

I have a wire fence between my place and the neighbor.
Have been planting various things to disguise it over the years. It is great now. Just a bare spot or two - which I will divide some grasses and fill it in.
It is quite a beautiful site now - of course many years later - but enjoyed every minute of it.

Basically I only buy plants and bulbs locally.
Like to look at what I'm getting. I learned that lesson years ago.
Of course the only exception to that rule is the daylily (in my case).
You're not going to find much locally with the exception of Daylily gardens that are close to you.
I have to come to rely on online purchases for them - forums like this, daylily.com and the hybridizer's online.
Almost all of my purchases have been great.

So, buy local when you can and learn who you can trust (this site seems to be good for that information) when you purchase online.

I'm a night owl.
Guess I better head to bed.
Good night all

Well, this Michigan Bulb Company order status: originally was to arrive 9/11. Everyday I look on the site for status it is upped a day, so now it says 9/24, tomorrow they will
change it to 9/25 and on and on. I sent them a email saying I was wondering why such a small order was being delayed.....of course no response from them. Confused

I've ordered from Michigan Bulb Company (and their associated partners. Never again. I order my bulbs from Brent&Becky and they are fabulous. BIG HEALTHY BULBS. And perennials from Bluestone. It's worth it. Seeds from Johnny's and a few specialty companies.

Oh stopped the post too fast. So anyway, I bought 150 Hillstar daffofils (late) and 50 each more of Monal (early) and Accent (mids) daffs to expand the existing areas.

I plant them all a bit farther apart then suggested because they expand here.

BTW, any plant company with just 10% negatives will never get my business at any low price... After all the work of planting and nurturing, saving pennies isn't worth it.
