I decided to plant my very first veggie garden this year. I planted Burpee Crimson Giant variety of radishes. However, what seems to be growing doesn't seem to be radishes at all. I'll admit, they weren't planted in an ideal growing spot. Probably not as much sun as they should be getting. What I'm getting instead is vines with small white flowers. Today when I looked at them, there are now what look like they could be pods or even small peppers. What is this?

Hi MommaHunter, Welcome!

I don't know a thing about growing Radish (Raphanus sativus 'Crimson Giant') or any other radish for that matter. Your plant reminds me of a gourd of some sort and I'm certain someone will be along soon to offer advice and suggestions.

The top pic is a radish.
You waited too long to check it... Plant sent up a bloom stalk and sprawled due to lack of light, and maybe too much moisture.
When seed pod turns black, you can collect the seeds and try again.

Hurray! I knew one of our knowledgeable gardeners would be able to identify your plant ... so they must be seedpods from your Burpee's Crimson Giant Radish!

We currently don't have any pictures of the seedpods in our database so I hope you'll consider uploading your first picture or, with your permission we can move it over to the database for you.
