I clipped a little stem later in the day after the last reply and it's in a bottle of water, not wilting! No roots yet but not wilting is always a great sign.

If you don't have an aerator, add a drop of hydrogen peroxide everyday. That little burst of extra oxygen when the drop (just a drop) hits the water should help. Or swirl the jar everytime you walk past. I think adding extra oxygen to the water (and keeping the water clean) is what makes a difference between root and rot.
