LOL, it's still laying out on the ground. I guess I could stick it back in the crook of a tree but I doubt it would have a chance to attach with the hundreds of squirrels running around.

Oh I thought you rescued it? Rolling on the floor laughing The poor thing doesn't even have a chance if squirrels are in the mix. Hilarious!

There are more of the T. setacea up in the same tree that one came from ... hopefully they will stay up there!

Also my T. simulata, aka "Broad Needleleaf" and my T. fasciculata v. densispica, aka "Cardinal Air Plant" are getting ready to bloom too. All these are native to Florida (the simulata is found in a few counties in FL and supposedly, no where else in the entire world). One day I might have every single variety found in FL. I now have 10 varieties.

The Tillandsia setacea are high up in the trees in my yard and I've only seen the spent blooms. I'll have to be on the lookout to see if I can catch sight of that pretty lilac bloom! Check Melanie's @mellielong's beautiful bloom photo from the database:

I don't have the following Tillandsia:

1. T. balbisiana, aka "Northern Needleleaf"
2. T. flavuosa, aka "Twisted Air Plant"
3. T. pruinosa, aka "Fuzzywuzzy Air Plant"

I may or may not have T. variabiliis, aka "Leatherleaf Air Plant". I have a plant that may be it. I will know (I think) when it blooms.

Also, I don't have these Bromeliads:

1. Guzmania monostachia, aka "West Indian Tufted Air Plant"
2. Catopsis nutans, aka "Nodding Strap Air Plant"
3. Catopsis berteroniana, aka "Powdery Strap Air Plant"
4. Catopsis floribunda, aka "Florida Strap Air Plant"

I'll keep a look out for those and let you know if I see them anywhere. Some are endangered and only found in certain areas of the state.

I have been reading this thread awhile and it looks like a interesting plant so I purchased a few small ones to see how easy they are to live with.

Yes, Lin. Those bromeliads are basically the rare and/or endangered ones. If I happen to come across any of those bromeliads, I would take them just to expand the collection, but I am not actively looking, if you know what I mean.

FYI Lin, I rescued two T. setacea, including the one in the picture, from the ground. I tucked them both into my Black Cherry (Prunus serotina) tree where they remain. Squirrels don't tend to hang out on that side of the house too much. And they don't seem to hang out in the cherry tree either.

I am so disappointed. None of my Air Plants came with a name and when I unpacked them I had no clue which one was which. I hate not knowing what you all are talking about. Confused

Jacquie, if you can take some good photos of each (different) plant, someone might be able to put a name to them. Where did you purchase those Tillandsia? I would certainly think that if you submit photos to them, they would be able to give you names.

JB, I got my plants online from a place called plant oddities. The plants came with a small tag with a number on it and they sent a paper which matched the number with the name of the plant. I do have them on my blog page showing what they are you can see the tags there.

I bought them from the Air Plant Place and I bought them by name but when they came they had no names on them and to me they all look alike. Frustrating for sure. I also bought some others online and they came with no ID. It is my own stupid fault but now I want to see if I can find their names. I will yell if and when I have a picture to be ID.
