I was on the patio admiring the size of some of my plants since we've had so much rain this summer. Then it hit me! Where will I put them over winter?

Thanks Lin, I haven't been very attentive. The Philo. on the left has attached to the tree.
I posted a Macho on the fern forum that is going to have to have its own greenhouse.

Sandi, Does it get real cold in winter there? I can't imagine having to move such monster plants indoors!

We use a long hoop house along our fenceline.

We've had so much rain my potted monstera has rooted to the ground. I meant to overwinter them in pots. I still might. Then again, I might leave them. Or bring them inside. Or leave them. Or bring them inside.....

What a gorgeous problem to have. Can you heavily mulch the trunk? They do lose their leaves here during cold winters but they promptly bounce back in spring.

They are both in large pots, but the big one on the left has grabbed onto the oak and is climbing up. It's going to kill me to have to wack it off. Behind the oak is a bed full of bromeliads I didn't have time to pot up and move. I think I'll have a couple of months before the first frost, though. This is when I wished we still lived in Hawaii.

Most of these bromeliads are in pots, but some are growing in ground. I have sometimes just covered these with row cloth if we have a light freeze. They seem to have adapted to me not being a very good earth mother. I have Billbergia nutans that are planted under a tree and bloom in January each year. 'Never cover those.
