Most of these bromeliads are in pots, but some are growing in ground. I have sometimes just covered these with row cloth if we have a light freeze. They seem to have adapted to me not being a very good earth mother. I have Billbergia nutans that are planted under a tree and bloom in January each year. 'Never cover those.
