I have 943 projects ahead of the Styrofoam but thought of a question!

If you took a small ice cooler and placed it inside a little bit bigger one and taped them together, would this method work? Confused

I rarely see Styrofoam but sure see the inexpensive ice chests.

ALSO...how about the take home containers that are thicker?

The boxes that drugs are shipped in work great. I just trimmed, brushed and poked bottom holes in another one and I'll paint it tomorrow.

If I want to keep some of mine white, do I still need to seal them first? If so, with what? They are already white, so no paint needed.

Well that's good to know (about the white) Anthony. Also never thought about the hospital as a source for the containers. Hurray!

Becky, why are you putting one inside another one? Boy I bet those would work great in your hot season for keeping the roots of plants cooler and holding moisture longer.

Thanks for paying attention to my question, Lynn. Everyone else was ignoring me. Rolling on the floor laughing

That is what I was hoping for...cooler roots. Not really....But somewhere on this threads someone said they are too thin so I wondered about doubling them.

Plus, of course, they'll have cooler roots. Rolling on the floor laughing

Boo- heres a tip,.,.Black pots attract the heat[in full summer sun] and kill the lilium bulb.To force late flowering orienpets/orientals to flower early[for flower shows],i place them in midday sun,but sit the pot in a polystyrene box to keep it cool[warm hands/cool feet]

yes.. the roots stay lots cooler..with the insulation value being about twice what a refrigerator has... I can water them wth cool water n the mornng.. and hours later t's still a bt cool.. even sitting on the 165* roof that many of them are...not to mention the great weight savings over the treated wood I'd make the containers of before..
Real cute Debbie who comes to sit at the table... faries or trolls.. [ others ? ] I need a bit more whimzey for my cactus/succlent foam planter

I just finished painting a new styrofoam trough made from one of my drug boxes. This time I mixed a little bit of terracotta paint in with the dark brown house paint.

Debbie you play very nice, love your containers. You should have a couple fairies or gnomes to visit your "gardens", they would enjoy them so much.

Tabby, love your new trough. I've got to get busy and paint the ones I got a few weeks ago. DH wants to cut the plastic panels I want to put on top of the metal table to hold a container, so lets do it NOW! Always has an excuse. Now that I have found a use for the panels we took out of the trash I want it done immediately if not sooner. Hilarious!

Tabby, that looks great.

Pegi, that's why, slowly, but surely, I have learned to do stuff myself. I refuse to cut anything with a hand saw, but my jig saw is awesome for what I need. I've gotten too impatient to wait. Rolling on the floor laughing

This is just the most amazing thread. You all are so imaginative and creative.

Debbie that miniature garden is wonderful with the little paths going from one garden room to another. I love the links you put for us.

Tabby what you do with your styrofoam containers always amazes me. The above photo looks like you carved out some of our volcanic rock to use for a planter. Lovey dubby

Guess I will have to get my scroll saw back from DH. I bought it a long time ago and never used it to make anything special. So, guess DH thinks it is part of his collection.
