This afternoon on all the ATP forums I click on McAfee is putting up a warning that says :
"We tested this page and blocked content that comes from potentially dangerous or suspicious sites. Allow content only if you are sure it comes from safe sites "

I trust this site, but am curious as to what is going on. I never see this warning any where nor have I seen it here ever. Confused

Yes, I'm getting that too.

I really resent McAfee telling me anything at all because it's just an antivirus service that got tacked on to my account when I switched service providers. I've never activated any part of it after it was installed as part of that package. I use Avira for anti-virus purposes and I ignore all of McAfee's messages.

Thanks for letting me know you are getting this also. I am a paid subscriber to McAfee. I checked their site report on ATP and it shows they find no problems with the site so I wonder why this is showing ? Confused

It is puzzling, but it's gone from the site now. Are you still getting it on every page?

I went out looking and it seems that this is happening all over the web. The problem is that SiteAdvisor seems to have a bug where it thinks Google Ads are malicious snippets. That's what is triggering this note.

The forums are mcafee.com are full of reports about this. I expect they will eventually fix this, or all their users will switch to something else like Avast. Whistling

We had already decided to switch to another one. DH had to disable their SiteAdvisor because of difficulties we had with it.

Mcafee annoyed the heck out of me so I eventually got rid of it and went with Kaspersky.

Thanks Dave for the info. I tip my hat to you. I just turned the computer on and I am still getting the warnings so I guess McAfee has not gotten their act together yet. Hilarious!

Is it that easy to get rid of, Sue? I never could get it off my last computer, but I haven't tried on this one.

On my last computer, I could remove all of the McAfee components but the last one, which would tell me it couldn't be removed because the rest of the components were missing. I obviously was doing it in the wrong sequence. Hilarious!

At least on this computer, it doesn't come along and blow a loud siren at me now and then. That was maddening!

I always use the uninstall feature, it seemed to take care of all the steps.

The anti-virus sites/vendors have had to turn to automation to keep up with the (over 10,000 per day) new threats emerging, which makes for interesting problems. Because of the large number of malware out there, signature files are getting so large that they cannot be practically downloaded daily and threats are changing so fast that even if the downloads could be done, we could not do them fast enough to keep up with the new ones.

A number of AV companies are therefore doing dynamic look-ups of their own internal databases (across the web) for the antivirus information and only keep a kernel of def's on the local machines. This approach tries to look at the traffic as it is happening and block infections from occurring when they identify a problem with the web page as it is being loaded. As you can imagine, this is not a simple task and false positive warnings are bound to occur. While I am not a great fan of McAffee either, it is a tough job these days. I'd rather they block and warn of something incorrectly than have to rebuild all the software on my computer.

Lastly, the bad guys are working very hard to keep their attacks quiet and are also getting very specific about what they are targeting. Keep safe as it is still a very hostile world on the Internet at the moment and anti-virus is not doing such a great job these days in blocking everything. A large site such as ATP,with many users who generally don't know a whole lot about computers, is an attractive target. I'm sure Dave is trying to keep on top of this, but it is a difficult task.

Thank you for the info twitcher. I am no longer having the problem with the security warnings coming up. Smiling
