Mike they all look great, I love the color of the third one, do you have names for all of yours, most of mine came with tags but there are some that looks the same.

I potted up mine that I got from you yesterday, cant believe that they graft that small stem into a nice caudex,, what do the do with the rest of the plant?

Here is the plant on the cd.Unless you have absolutely no life and can devote all your time to training the roots, this isn't the way to go.There is also a picture of a rooted cutting about the same age.No sign of a caudex there yet.And finally,my "hole through the caudex with it's resident fake frog.

none of mine came with names what they do is have a large mother plant the take a branch and cut maybe 20 pieces and use all of those to go in to 20 caudexs. as long as the graft grows from there up you have the purple bloom if it starts ti grow from the caudex it will be a different plant altogether. some times when the first color or flower is found one of a kind they separate that and that is there mother they maybe cross pollinate flowers 5-10 times to get the flowers they really want. then they have a new flower and wala a new flower like they are working real hard on yellow combos. it is amazing how they do it.

Mike that is why I do not trust people on ebay, you never get true colors from seed, and even grafted ones may not be the one they claim they are, you realy need to know your seller.

Mike do you find that it's better to graft in a particular season; for instance better spring then fall?

jim
i have no idea im guessing spring/summer due to you want the plant in the prime growing time. when you graft you wrap the graft and keep it humid with a bag or some individuals that do SMALL quantity are making little individual greenhouses for each with plastic soda or water bottles. in 30-60 days the are checked and see if the grafted piece has started to grow they assume the graft is taking and then its time to start to open up and let the new plant to thrive that is why i think fall and winter is bad UNLESS you are using heaters and grow lights to fake the plant its in the growth stage.

I AM NOT AN EXPERT AND HAVE NEVER GRAFTED I am is just using the research i have done and my knowledge about plants

Yea, my thought was spring too. I gotta get a few in pots this week, I've got so many too close together;but I have such terrible luck (or skill) with potted plants that I'm hesitating, it's like I'm deciding which ones I'm going to execute.

Those are some really nice caudex's. Beautiful. Do you trim the side roots on the caudex? I've been wondering about that.

i have been the small ones then let those heal for 3 days in sun or up to a few months is what the pros in india do they carve them almost everything i have learned is from a few websites but i think this is the best http://www.adeniumsindia.com/h... some of the larger roots on the side i leave in hopes that they grow and form interesting shapes you can coax them to make sculptures im just getting started so i am not expert but its fun. Sum think if you leave ynunder 3 yrs caudex's buried they grow faster so im trying that with some I am open to all info anyone can give
look at the site they have great pics and thats what us guys are good at looking at pics rite?
