@robertduval14 Robert, Thank you so much for all the Acorn Acorn Acorn Acorn Acorn 's you've shaken out of your tree and sent raining on me! Green Grin! This is such a fun place and I refuse to let negativity make it less so.

Group hug to you @SpringGreenThumb, I wish you peace in your busy world. Oh my goodness, with 17 children (and one being an infant) you must have an extremely busy world indeed! Kudo's to you for "making it a way of life to accomplish far more in less time than the average woman will ever accomplish in her lifetime". Group hug

The ONLY one who see these raffles as cynically as this is you. Your cynicism and condescending attitude, however thinly veiled, show through clearly. The mods and plant admins have been nothing short of helpful to you in getting all your entries into their proper place. If you somehow feel that is not the case I am truly sorry that we fell short of your expectations. But I'm not going to sit back and watch you accuse (and that IS what you are doing, we can all read) Dave or NGA of somehow depriving you of what you seem to think is your rightfully owed prize for your contributions. You clearly have some sort of misconception of how odds work. If there were 10 prizes and 11 people entered, each bought 1 ticket, but one bought 5000...the one that bought 5000 can still lose. It may not seem fair, but the nature of odds actually means it IS fair.

When I submit pics of my plants, getting acorns is just a bonus. The real reward is knowing that I contributed to the site. When there is a raffle, I certainly enter in the hopes of winning(not yet!), but I don't feel like I am MORE entitled to a prize than anyone else on here. I've never been able to purchase more than a few tickets at a time, but I'm grateful to have the chance to win something.

Robert,

I do not feel like there is any "rightfully owed prize for my contributions". I am simply irritated at myself for wasting time I could and should be spending on more important things... or more productive things.

As far as misconception about odds.... if you have read my comments you will see that I have been accurately talking about odds all along and saying they are not in my favor also that I need to make better choices. If this is not a perception I should ever conclude then please forgive me.

I am open to your advise on how I should be spending my time. 😊

(Thete are only 2 accusations I have made.
1- I have accused myself of not being more productive.
2- I have accused you of winning then smirking at someone who didn't. If that didn't happen then I have accused falsely and stand corrected.)

I do think it's ok to talk about odds. I've seen many people ask about them and never get an answer. If this subject is not one you want me to discuss. I will end it now. Thumbs up

I don't feel like questioning the odds is the issue. It was subtle and not so subtle insinuations that the drawing was somehow rigged that caused the problem. I think it should be dropped- I would hate to see the raffles discontinued because someone complained.

I'm sorry that contributing to our database is a waste of your time unless you win a raffle...

We're all grateful, as it makes our database more comprehensive and complete.

And just for the record...As far as what you ASSUME your odds of winning were (you seem to think that your odds were low), I can tell you this much for absolute sure...your odds were better than mine by almost double.

Congratulations again! Thumbs up

(I just need to help my kids with their homework instead of running off to the nursery looking for exotic plants for the purpose of winning a raffle. Two of them have grades that have slid down to a B- and that jeopardizes their chances for a full scholarship. My love for plants is to blame.)

I did not accuse Dave or his raffle of anything... other than having "interesting odds". In any case this convo also is wasting my time also... No need to hound me... unless you feel Dave is not capable of responding adequately. I need to disinfect my toddlers wound tonight. My 4 year old accidentally slammed his finger in the door. Good night. 😊 πŸ‘πŸ» πŸŒΊπŸŒΊπŸ‘πŸ»

Btw... I am a super mod on a political forum. I seldom participate in the convos there these days but I still help handle complaints and reported posts. One thing I (we) MUST do in order to be fair with all members including opposing opinion forums is that we never read anything into a post that isn't written there or jump to conclusions... or insert our own assumptions into a post other than the exact words written there by the author.

Even a married couple who has known each other for 30 years can make incorrect assumptions about their spouses actions or words. That said, no person here knows me well enough to assume anything.

(So far 95 percent of responses to me has been someone responding not to my written word... but instead responding to their own assumption. It's a human error to do so.) 😊

Not one of you has even tried to get to know me.

This is not "cynicism". this is just pure good advise (outspokenness) from one mod to another. Take it or leave it. 😊🌺

And congratulations again!!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Your own feelings about what you feel another person might have been thinking when they make a post is irrelevant because you cannot read minds and its a mistake to put in words I never said... changing the words changes the meaning of a sentence.... and therefore there is no virtue in inserting your own words and meaning into another person's comment. It's incorrect.

Dave posted his program for anyone who has a tendency to jump to conclusions....

I would suppose that should be good enough resolution for anyone who does that. I don't see any reason for
anyone to continue to project their own feelings into my comment.

****Please forgive me if I offended you. I did not intend to. πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜Šβ€οΈπŸŒΊπŸŒΊπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

There is also no logic in fearing that a raffle would end because I said I dont have time to take more pictures. I'm sure this sight is not governed on my personal schedule or whether I personally choose to buy the products or buy raffle tickets. Reasonably.... who cares what I choose?
Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

(Don't assume this is cynicism... It's truly humorous of you to worry about such a thing happening over silly me. I'm sure Dave is wiser than that.)

Now as far as my eccentrically joking comment about Robert driving me off the data base... He didn't really ask me exactly what it was joking about.... he could have but chose not to.

Never the less he did point out the same stats I did.

My comments said there were high rollers... Robert confirmed it.

My comments said that the same people have won repeatedly even if I had purchased more acorns. He backed me up when he compared his odds to mine. Neither Robert or I said there was anything WRONG in what happened. It appears to me this may just a case of Dogpiling on me for perceiving the odds and for concluding my time could be more wisely spent.

Yes.... That's frustrating when folks do that but I forgive you anyway.

(It's true most people do have a tendency to see and respond to others emotionally rather than rationally which is human error.) 🌺 Thumbs up Thumbs up

Happy Gardening.

I totally agree with this post! I would give you acorns, but I don't have any! Hilarious!

Right On, Plantcollector! They are too fun to let something spoil them. If someone doesn't like them for any reason he/she doesn't have to enter.
