Great plant! Green Grin! I love the flowers and the smell of the foliage.
I haven't grown it in a while but it behaved like a biennial for me. I think the soil/weather here were not to its liking.
So, how old were your seeds? I have some really old seeds around here somewhere...

I think my seeds came from a seed vendor in Texas. My previous plant didn't make seeds.

Danita, this is a first year plant and it does appear it will be biennial. I hope I can keep it alive with the Salvia nutans indoors this winter.

Duane, I wonder if you have to keep the soil on the basic side of the pH scale to keep it happy?

That's how mine behaved. The first year from seed it grew a rosette. The second year it flowered, set seed, and later died. I know it should be perennial but, I guess, conditions aren't ideal for it here.

Okay, just had a thought and had to look up some info. Guess who I got my original seeds from almost 10 years ago?

YOU, Joseph! Hilarious!

They should be hardy for you outside since they are rated to zone 6. Shrug!

I recall that the leaves smelled like lemon-lime soda. Do they smell like that to you?

I sensed a slight fragrance but I don't recall that flavor of soft drink. I hope I have the real thing. I will check out the leaves tomorrow.

I didn't know the leaves had any smell. I'll have to try and smell them sometime. Thumbs up

Hilarious!

I'll have to get outside, look for one of the leaves and smell it when it's not hot, humid/muggy here. Hope I can do it before all the leaves die and turn brown. Crossing Fingers! Thumbs up
