Judy is 100% right. Goofing around was 2/3rds of the fun.

Okay everyone, I THINK we are at 14. Tonight was the deadline to have 15, but that 14 doesn't include me. I will throw my seeds into the ring, so to speak, to make the minimum 15 happen. I think it will be a very successful swap because we have a nice blend of existing and new members for the November swap and I look forward to it! I only ask that everyone remain flexible for this swap because there are two family members that we're juggling Thanksgiving plans around and the date keeps swaying back and forth, so the date of shipping seeds out might vary slightly, but it won't vary by leaps and bounds.

I will create the November swap very soon so that you can get registered and start setting up your available seeds early for those of you that want to get a jump on it. Thumbs up

Hurray! I was really hoping this swap would happen! Now that most of my daylily seeds are collected and sorted I'll actually have time to devote to getting seeds ready for the swap! I'm already going through my seeds and pulling out new ones for the swap. This gives me plenty of time to enter plants & data into the plant database. I may even be able to print out instructions this time!

Question-
I have gathered seeds of 39 plants in my yard! I will also probably order some. I guess I also have Oh Seed D! They are now cleaned and are drying in my box with low humidity. I am ready to start packaging them up. Do you guys prefer tiny plastic ziplocks or coin envelopes for this swap? (I have both). I will either find glassine envelopes or make little wrappers of waxed paper for the dust-like seeds, last year someone recommended I do that.

I thought I might start listing my seeds for the swap- I assumed each "Swap List" was associated with a specific Swap. But not only do I see that one could manage to be in two Swaps at once with a single list, the list I made from last year is still here. I found it by looking in the"Not From the Seed Rack" Swap I was in. Do I use that list?
So, even though we have not started this new swap, can I start my listings? Do I delete and post new ones? Can I just change the notes (updating from "collected 2015" to Collected 2016") and quantity?

Also, I will probably again make computer-printed labels on paper, cut them out and tape them on. That worked pretty well. I thought I had written down what I did last year, but of course I can't find it.
What size font do y'all use?

Pistil Most use both here and all Coin , or baggie , some paper homemade from time to time , Mostly,, any way you want to as long as user name and date is on them , I believe that is usual ,
I keep browsing for seeds from my plants , It is better when no hurry is involved
In the Butterfly garden if a plant is not chewed up I feel like a failure

You can edit the entries in your old list and add new ones to it at anytime. You can even make them available before a swap starts. You won't be able to add them to a swap until that swap is open to members. Once you join a swap a column for each swap you are in will appear on the far left of your list. To make an entry active for a swap you have to place a check mark in the appropriate column. If you are offering some identical seeds in more than one swap, you have to create an entry for each swap to avoid over promising (at least I have to do that). If you check multiple columns because you are in several swaps, the entire quantity will be available to each swap you have check marked. I don't think that has happened, but it could lead to a lot of confusion.

Daniel,
If you are going to swap seeds from plants on your plant list it is easy. There is a recycle symbol (two curved arrows) by each plant. Click on it and that plant will automatically be added to your swap list. You just need to fill in the number of packs on offer and how many seeds per pack. You can also add a picture and any comments you'd like to add about the seeds.

If the seeds are not from your plant list, you can just start typing the name and if the plant is in the database you can select it. Even if the plant isn't in the database you can add it but then you should definitely add a comment on things like plant height, flower color, preferred growing conditions etc.

I know everyone is chomping at the bit, LoL, and so am I! Enrollment begins tomorrow!

The dates are November 2-9, server time. (November 1-8 in the states.)
Seeds should be organized and mailed out (postmarked) by Nov 16. Regardless of when you mail them, please make sure that your shipping method makes allows the seeds to get to me before (or on) Monday, November 28. It's cutting things really close for me, but my target date for shipping them back out is Nov 30 (with arrival to all of you the first week of December), so it would be really helpful to have them in early.

I think now that we've experimented with the September swap time, we're all agreed that something later in the year/season is preferable, so we'll see how November goes for everyone!

This early November swap is perfect for me!
I'll be hosting the Wish List Seed Swap (formerly WLOMWL Swap on GardenWeb) later on over on Cubits, but the sign up period for it doesn't end until Dec. 5. No overlap at all!
This one will motivate me to get busy now sorting and packaging seeds I need to share while they are still good.
I have indulged in a bit of seed gluttony in the Piggie Swap as well as a few others. Sticking tongue out
I resolve to share more and take less. Whistling
This was just about a non-gardening year for me, but I am looking forward to a better year ahead.

Pistil, I was in both dnd's and poisondart ' last year. I made a separate list for each swap so that there was no confusion. It helped.

I am so excited. I'm ready to start listing, lol.

I think I'm going to have to do that.

But I wonder if this would work:

Say I have 8 pkts of Goshwhattaplantii that I want to trade, total.
Maybe I can just list "4" and check the green checkbox for both swaps.
Ideally, that would tell EACH swap to trade up to 4 pkts and then stop trading because I'm out.

I guess I'll find out what happens!

If Dave ever messes around with the seed swap tool, I would ask for this feature in each person's main Swap List:

1. One column for "total # of trade pkts the trader wants to offer.

2. One column for each swap you happen to join.

3. A pull-down or button for "Transfer N pkts from the total to THAT Swap #N"
- - - - That would decrement the total and increment THAT swap's "available" counter.

4. At the end of each swap, a button that allows you to "take back" any untraded pkts:
- - - - - Decrement the number available for the ended swap to Zero & Increment the Total field by that #

5. Ability to add to or subtract from the "Total" and "Swap #N" fields separately, manually.
