Over the course of the summer, a vine started crawling up the side of my garden that I thought it was a cucumber. As the crazy heat of our Georgia summer slowly fried my garden, I didn't go out to check on things as often. Today I went down and noticed what I thought was a cucumber laying on the top frame of the enclosed garden, but upon closer inspection, it was not. Actually, I don't know what it is. It doesn't feel like a zucchini either. It smells somewhat like a stink weed!!

I found a smaller one in the garden on the soil and it was spongy.

Here is a better shot of the "fruit?" as well as a shot of the blossom.

I brought them up to the house and sliced open the smaller one.

Looks like a Luffa.

let it dry and you can use the inside as a luffa sponge.
