Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Forty Second Street')

Love this double daylily. I purchased it in 2008. I transplanted it a couple years after that to get it into a better location. Because of increase since 2010, I dug it up and transplanted it last year (2015). A couple of the fans did bloom this year. I fully expect next year to see lots of blooms from FSS. It does get to the registered height (24") and bloom size (5"). Although it is an evergreen, it does very nicely in my zone 5a garden.

Time of day and amount of light, for picture taking, seems to make a difference in the appearance of color. The second picture is true to the color I get in my garden.

2016 picture: Perhaps needs more growing time to look fuller as the next picture when it was more established.

Forty-Second Street is one of my favorites, it has so much to offer, doubles, has pattern and clear color. It performes very well and blooms for 2-3 weeks. It's a keeper.

I have had Forty Second Street in my Daylily garden for many many years and it continues to be one of my very favorite doubles in my southern 8a garden. It tolerates the high temperatures as well as the humidity. It increases well also. So much so I have been able to share this one with several close friends. Setting seed pods on this Daylily is a bit of a challenge for me personally but that's ok.... who doesn't enjoy a challenge every now and then. Lol

I have had Forty Second Street about 3 years now, I really enjoy the double blooms. It hasn't multiplied much, I need to move it because a shrub has grown up over it. It still manages to bloom quite nicely. Although I think it is listed as a rebloomer, it has never rebloomed for me.

FORTY SECOND STREET performs excellently here in the Subtropics. It is a beautiful double and not a bad looking single when it occurs (usually at the beginning of the season). It is easily both pod and pollen fertile but sometimes the pistil can be absent.

Here, it begins flowering middle to late in the second month of spring and reblooms. It is susceptible to rust but it is not the worst of rust buckets.
