This website offers so much to gardening enthusiasts. The one thing I like most is "getting to know more about other gardeners." None of my friends are very much interested in gardening - so this website gives me the only opportunity I have to share my interests. In different forums (I jump around constantly since I like just about everything) I've met (so to speak) fellow gardeners from all over the USA, Europe, Africa, Asia, So. America, Hawaii, Canada and Australia. What a small world this is! When I'm not tending my patio plants and a few houseplants, I spend a good share of my time on this website - learning a lot about plants and a lot about other gardeners.

I'm learning new people too. It might take me a while to start to remember who is who, but ya always have to start at the bottom.

Yardenman - I feel sure you'll enjoy this website. Everyone is so friendly, helpful and willing to lend a helping hand. And really generous in sharing their knowledge, excess seeds, plants and cuttings with other members.

As you surf around the various Forums and other selections, you will find a lot of the same members on several forums. The more you post, the easier it will be to get to know others. Usually when you post, several members will respond.

I tend to hang around the daylily forums most of the time. I agree that this site is a great place to meet people who share my love of gardening. So few of my family want to talk about flowers other than to say something is pretty. I have learned a lot and gained a lot of gardening friends here

I can't say my family disregards gardening. We all do it. But we all do it in very different ways. My sister grows the most perfectly trimmed and flowering butterfly bush I ever saw. My (sadly) deceased sister was the best organic grower I ever met. I do some of all, organically, and rather informally.

I have formal flowerbeds, formal gardenbeds, wildflower areas, spring bulbs and lily areas, and wild areas in the far back yard for the cats to sneak around in.

I like a bit of everything.

I am mostly into daylilies and can almost see my kids eyes roll when I talk about them, but have a variety of other plants too. And once in a while, they are interested in a particular plant and that creates a little bond that we have. I gave my daughter some elephant ears a few months ago and she was thinking that her husband would not like them. However, I received the nicest note from him thanking me for them and that just made my day! I can't wait to see them growing at their house next year.

Isn't it sad that we need a computer to find fellow gardeners in other states to share our thoughts and our accomplishments? So many
people find gardening or even growing a single tomato plant beneath them. When I was young, everyone had a garden, and almost
every house had some flowers planted around it. These days you never see peonies or Iris at all. I grew up at a time when people didn't
have it so easy, and we really appreciated what we had and how we lived. Here where I live, I see a lot of people who stand there with
their hand out asking for help, but not willing to try to help themselves. I don't want to offend anyone, so will keep the rest of my thoughts
to myself... but oh if you could read my mind! I have heard people make the comment that I need to get a life, meaning that I need to get
out of the house and party with the rest of "them". No thanks! Even if you guys are states away, we share a common purpose, and our
pride in what we do speaks to the inner strength that guides us. It connects us to our past, and often to people in our lives who are no
longer with us. I am happy to be here with you guys, and it's good to know that I'm not alone.

Everyone has their own unique interests. For instance, my son-in-law loves to ride bike. He just bought a new bike and races in mountain bike races locally. He loves it so much that when he talks about it, his enthusiasm is contagious. I think that is the same with gardening. My enthusiasm for daylilies got my daughter to join me in an auction a few years ago and we had so much fun bidding together! But her interest has waned now. Some day I hope she picks it up again.

Having this website to come to and discuss gardening has certainly helped me to learn so much and I appreciate all the people who come here to share their experiences with the rest of us.

I belong to several forums. While a lot of name calling and drama go on there, every once in awhile I do gain some good information there.

But this site? It's the BEST! It always has a positive vibe about it. It is full of knowledgeable people who gladly share their varied expertise without making me feel stupid for asking. They make me laugh. They make me cry. They engage me in conversation. They make me think! KUDOS to the members of Gardening.org! This is the best place to not only talk about gardening, but just about everything else!! I consider you all my friends!
