Use Acorns and Pinecones

Fall is a great time to gather all those acorns and pine cones, large and small. You can drop them off at the art department of your local school for the kids to use in craft making. With all the budget cuts nowadays, the schools are very appreciative of this.... and so are the kids.

This is a great idea! I love this idea!

As a kid I loved creating my "art" from found objects.

I do remember during the Ozzie and Harriet days (I was raised in their family Big Grin ) Our school would have field trips to mountain parks to collect our own pine cones, grasses, twigs, lichen, rocks etc. I'm sure the costs and even litigation insurance to continue that practice is prohibitive these days.

Thanks, Susie!
Hopefully, it may spark an interest in nature and appreciation for trees and these little gems they produce, in the children.
I remember, as you do, those idyllic Donna Reed days!
Lucky you to be raised in Ozzie and Harriets' family! Hilarious!

We always put our gatherings in the freezer overnight to kill all of the creepy-crawlies. Learned that lesson the hard way when the living room was full of bugs coming out of the baskets of cones by the fireplace.

LOL @ sandnsea2
Good idea for getting rid of stowaway bugs, June.
My sister made a beautiful wreath out of pine cones, acorns, etc. It hangs on our front door every Christmas season.
