Anyone have any idea what this is? Picked it up at a garage sale and they didn't know what it was either.

Going to up-pot it but have to peel off those pesky decorative pebbles that are glued to the pot.

Looks like a jade! crassula ovata don't know if that's the right one but definitely in the crassulaceae family.

It's a Jade plant. The small leaves may be a sign of wanting more direct light.

I agree with the Jade ID, although it looks to be one of those more uncommon ones (Well, uncommon to me), either 'Hobbit' or 'Gollum.'

The second one is Portulacaria afra.

Both Hobbit and Gollum have round or curled leaves, it could be Crassula Argentea, not really sure.

A couple of the leaves do have that abnormal.... I'm not even sure how to describe it, cupping? under the leaves. You have to open the picture and scan to find them, I think it was only 2 or 3 leaves.

Interesting! I didn't even notice that. I can get closer photos of those leaves tomorrow if you would like to see them closer up.

I sure would like to see some. Are you going to keep the Elephant Bush with it in the same pot?

I'm going to separate them and pot them up in their own pots and let them grow as they please. The terra cotta has a crack but would make a nice little cactus bowl. Just wish they wouldn't glue the pebbles to the pot!

The Elephant bush (P. Afra) is a attractive plant in it's own right, and a fast grower compared to the C. Ovata. I like the contrast between the geen leafs and nearly black stems. They make a great Bonsai.

Your Ovata has some of the leafs folding over, this is what C. Ovata "Hobbit" does. You could possibly root the part that has that growth and it may grow as a Hobbit. It would be fun to experiment with.

Here are some closeup photos of the crassula's leaves. Sorry for the delay - extra shifts I tried to zero in on the leaves that look like they are folding, some of them almost resemble little mouths or something similar.







Besides the crassula, the elephant bush is a very interesting plant as well! It will be interesting to watch it grow. Probably need quite a large pot eventually and to overwinter inside from the sound of it.
