I live in zone 5 and recently bought 2 BOBO petite shrub hydrangeas (Panicle Hydrangea). I'm debating on where to put them. I have these really old and tall pine trees at the front of my driveway and was thinking about putting one of these on both sides. However, I'm worried about the tree's roots suffocating the hydrangeas. My other idea was to put them around the mailbox, but again, roots.

I'd love to hear how you use these types of hydrangeas to landscape and any thoughts about if my ideas are bad ones. I definitely have other places in mind. I'm new to gardening, but absolutely LOVE hydrangeas!

Hi - I'm new to Hydrangeas so I can't really answer your question. But I did want to say I am also in Zone 5 and just purchased some Bobos for in front of my porch. But now we just got a freeze warning! So I have to wait a few days to get them in the ground. But I'm so hoping they do well as I'm really excited for them!

I planted one last year , it came back but very weak looking with no flowers. If it survives this Winter I am going to try it in a much sunnier area.
