'Flowering' in a large pot just outside my bedroom window..Elegia capensis, doing well there, over 6' tall now...

Hiding in the elegia is the first buds of Pineapple Sage. I would be worried about it flowering now except it did flower all through last Winter and the hummers appreciated it. I have several smaller rooted cuttings that I think I will put out there, in pots, also...

Thumb of 2016-10-02/wcgypsy/6af4c9

Elegia blurry, but in this one you can actually SEE the Pineapple Sage...LOL..

In amongst miscellaneous bags of seed that made the trip up here with me was a baggie with ONE seed of Salvia darcyii...and it germinated and is now flowering...Yay !...figured it's safe enough now to put it into the ground as I will get seeds from it hopefully before long....hopefully...just trying to get as much as possible into the ground....

Yes, and that fading hydrangea-Mexican Feather Grass combo again, I just don't get tired of it, think it would make a beautiful silk scarf pattern, large scarf, shawl size...

There are no colors used in my house other than brown, black, neutrals....just the way it is....LOL...

Do you see this little red Pineapple Sage bloom? It just opened yesterday and a hummer was right on it...it bloomed all through last Winter and I'm hoping it does so also this Winter, it should since last Winter was colder here and it did make it through that. I'm wondering if the hummers remember it from last year and have been waiting, checking it every day, waiting for it to bloom. I have several others rooted from cuttings that I will place in there with that large one, keep those birdies happy.

Edited to add that I do use splashes of orange from persimmons, oranges, tangerines, pumpkins for color..

You just reminded me that I saw persimmons (Fuyu) at the store yesterday. Very small, half green, and $1.49 each. I passed, but I'll be keeping my eyes open.

Yum....funny you should mention that...I was just thinking yesterday that soon i would have Fuyus to eat....last year the Grocery Outlet here was getting them in by the bag...and cheap ! especially considering thaat the few I saw in the other stores were outrageously priced...soon I will pig out on 'simmons...YAY ! I'm thinking clean out the fridge to store them....seriously...my favorite fruit.

This Spathiphyllum has started to show its spathe last July 2016 before we left for Manila, and it thankfully did not die while left really dry. Some leaves did get badly dry but I now got two new leaves and the spadix still holds well this October. Spathe has turned from white to greenish.

Sherry, My Yahoo weather report on Crescent city almost always shows you have cloudy, gloomy, cold, and even rainy days there... and yet, your garden pictures tell another story: all blooming everywhere and bright, shinny, beautiful! Hurray! I only have this Zygo orchid acquired last month keeping its blooms indoor until now and hopefully a bit longer...
