You could take it inside if it's super special to you. I have some in pots outside in Phoenix. When we have frosts, it dies down. In the spring it all comes back from the roots and fills the pot again.
My parents had a cabin in Strawberry when I was a kid. I have wonderful memories of it.

How cold does it get where you are? Do you have freezes? is listed for zones 8 - 11 so if you don't have extended periods of really cold weather, it may survive with a heavy mulch, otherwise as plantmanager mentioned, you could dig it and pot it up to keep inside over winter.

I'd leave it be, Penny and then if a really cold spell of weather threatens, just take some cuttings inside. They root very easily wherever a leaf node touches the ground. So just stick some cuttings in a little pot of potting soil, and you'll have new plants as insurance. It's a very easy and resilient plant.
